Annual Events in Livingston County

In Howell:

  • Downtown Howell welcomes the weekly Howell's Sunday Farmers' Market, sponsored by the Howell Area Chamber of Commerce, which runs 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. from the first Sunday in May to the last in October.
  • The Michigan Challenge Balloonfest, sponsored by the Howell Area Chamber of Commerce, is a community and family event. This event is one of the premier summertime activities in Michigan, offering entertainment for the entire family.
  • The Howell Melon Festival, sponsored by the Howell Area Parks & Recreation Authority, held in downtown Howell since 1960, is a great family-friendly Howell tradition, celebrating the famed, delicious cantaloupe grown only in Howell.
  • The Legend of Sleepy Howell takes place the Saturday before Halloween from 5-9 p.m. Sponsored by the Howell Area Parks & Recreation Authority, it is Livingston County's premier Halloween event.
  • The Fantasy of Lights, sponsored by the Howell Area Chamber of Commerce, kicks off the holiday season in Howell. Join the fun at Fantasy of Lights, the Friday in November after Thanksgiving in downtown Howell.
In Brighton:
  • Ladies Night Out in downtown Brighton. Twice per year the Downtown Brighton Merchants get together and throw a party. Come out and get some great deals, great food, and excellent drinks.
  • A Taste of Brighton Festival. A strolling music, outdoor shopping, street food, and drink festival in July. Featuring all local Merchants, Restaurants, and Bars combined with four music stages and all on Main Street. A great way to get a "Taste" of what Downtown Brighton has to offer.
  • Brighton Fine Art and Acoustic Festival in August. Join in on Main Street for this prestigious art show featuring unique art, local foods, and four stages of live acoustic music. A Wine and Hops Outdoor Art Gallery will highlight the event.
  • Smokin Jazz and Barbecue Blues Festival in September. One of Downtown Brighton's original signature events! Join in on Main Street for the perfect opportunity to enjoy the tastiest of barbecue, the smoothest of jazz and the bluest of blues.
In Hartland:
  • 29th Annual Fantasy of Lights in November. Kick off the holiday season with the Fantasy of Lights Parade as it marches down Grand River Avenue in historic downtown Howell before a crowd of thousands. This traditional event features a spectacular nighttime parade, marching bands and musical entertainment, a 5K run, children's activities, and of course, Santa Claus.
In Fowlerville:
  • Fowlerville Family Fair. Fowlerville Family Fair is the largest event in Livingston County, bringing approximately 40,000 attendees to Fowlerville.
  • 4th of July in the Ville. Livingston County Fireworks and Fowlerville 4th of July held annually in celebration of Independence Day. Fireworks can bee seen from the Community Park or Fowlerville Fairgrounds.
  • Christmas in the Ville Christmas in the Ville is a complete day filled with the spirit of the season. There are family friendly activities thorough out the day; pet parade, story book time, face painting, 5k Dashing through the snow and a one mile race. Come out to visit with Santa and meet his Reindeer. A very special treat is to see the Hot Air Balloons in December! The parade is filled with lights and warmth.
In Pinckney:
  • Art in the Park – Click on the link to the left or here for details.
  • Hootin' in the Park – Free Music Thursday evenings running late July and August. Music, food and fun sponsored by the local Lions Club. Activities begin at 5 p.m. in Township Square.
  • Light Up the Park. Every December magic and excitement fill Putnam Township Square, during the holiday season. Features include Santa, Christmas Caroling, a live Nativity scene, tasty treats and holiday spirited downtown shops.
  • Memorial Day Run. Village of Pinckney holds a 5k run at 9 a.m. and the Memorial Day parade kicks off at 1 p.m. down Main Street.
  • Spooktacular. The Pinckney Spooktacular, sponsored by the DDA, is a free, family-fun night held just prior to Halloween each Fall.
  • St. Patrick's Day Parade. The Pinckney St. Patrick's Day parade is usually held the Saturday closest to St. Patrick's Day each year.
